Counter-Strike Global Offensive Changing Mic Volume

Short Version

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<user id>\730\local\cfg\config.cfg
change voice_mixer_volume “1.0” to the value you want (“0.8” for 80%, “0.5” for 50%, etc.)

Why?

Every time I launched CS:GO my microphone volume was going from 80% to 100% in windows settings. This could make your mic too loud or distort audio. Changing this every time I launched the game got annoying quick.

Change the config.cfg file

You need to make a change in the config.cfg file. This is located in your Steam install directory. If you have CS:GO installed to a different location this file is in the Steam install directory, not the game install directory.

The config.cfg file is at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<user id>\730\local\cfg\config.cfg
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\
Change voice_mixer_volume “1.0” to the value you want (“0.8” for 80%, “0.5” for 50%, etc.).
Restart the game if it’s already open.
You can adjust your system mic volume back in start > run > mmsys.cpl > Recording tab.
